Writers Choice (Descriptive) Example Writer's Choice (Descriptive) ââ¬â Essay Example Target audience: Young tourists and architects Assignment The Monument that Stands Tall In Champ de Mars, which is one of the most posh areas of Paris, one can see the famous Eiffel Tower standing proudly and pleasingly. Today, although it is no longer the tallest structure of the world as it used to be until the 1930s, it continues to stand tall in its elegance. The tower was erected in 1889, to be used as the entrance arch for the 1889 Exposition Universelle. This magnificent tower has a height of 324 metres. There are three levels which have been allowed for visitor access. The first two levels are restaurants that are situated near the base and arches of the tower. A visitor can have a taste of elegant French cuisine in these restaurants. The third level of visitor access is situated at 276 metres above the ground level. It is the upper platform of the towerââ¬â¢s observatory. From here, the visitor can have a great view of the big city of Paris. The visitor might be thrilled to listen to the faint sounds of traffic and winds emerging from the cityscape. The monument has survived two World Wars, and that is how it continues to stand tall with a comprehensive perspective of Parisian engineering and liveliness. There are four main slanting pillars (or legs) of the tower which form the base of the tower. The four pillars are arranged at the vertices of a big square field, which can be thought of as the ground based platform of the structure. Below these four legs, there are four arches that depict structures like grand entrance gates. Each of the four legs, along with their outer edges, is designed with the help of metallic bars and rods, which zigzag each other in a magnificent fashion. Millions of rivets have been used to join together the metallic parts of the huge structure that join together and start tapering upwards as if to touch the sky. The tower has been overwhelmingly constructed with the help of wrought iron, a fact that an observer can easily understand by looking at it in daytime. The Eiffel Tower is a world famous engineering marvel. According to the official website of the tower, it is the most famous monument of France. And of course, it symbolises that how humans have loved to conquer the heights. Q2 Since Whole Foods pioneered the sale of natural and fresh perishable goods in the market, there have been tremendous changes in the industry. One of the significant changes have been sensitizi ng people and creating awareness on the need for people to use natural foods and not processed foods. Over the time, most people used processed foods, which has been blamed for increased diabetic cases among other complications. Whole Foods in pioneering to deal with natural fresh foods enlightened many consumers on the need to use natural foods for the betterment of their health, which explains the drastic growth of the natural food industry today. Another development has been an increase in the number of companies offering such foods. The need arose from an increasingly busy life, where some couples worked for long hours, lacking enough tim e to prepare meals at home. The increased demand for natural food led Whole Foods to open numerous stores in major metropolitan areas, where the company sold its products at relatively lower prices than their competitors. Essentially, as the need for fresh and organic products increased, there was a shortage of such products in the market as more stores searched for suppliers of different produce to satisfy the customersââ¬â¢ changing tastes and preferences. Emerging Leadership Trends And Theories Essay Example for Free
Emerging Leadership Trends And Theories Essay The contingency theory of leadership concentrates on the efficiency of leadership in terms of organizing, leading and making decisions for an organization, and it is dependent on matching a leaders style to the right situation. This theory was introduced by Fielder, who analyzed various leaders in different contexts, but mostly he studied on the military. The theory assumes that behavior and styles cannot be influenced or modified; it is contradictory to ââ¬Ësituational leadership which emphasized the need for the leaders to adapt to the situation. Besides, the term ââ¬Ësituation implies to a complex combination of leader-member relation, task structure, and position power. 1. Leader-member relation is an evaluation of leadership acceptance between the organizational hierarchies. Therefore, the relationship is high when the leader is respected and accepted by his or her juniors. 2. Task structure is an evaluation of the simplicity of the task or project and their methods used to achieve the end product. 3. Positional power is an evaluation of amount power the leader has to manipulate the productivity of the juniors. Therefore, the power is high if a great deal of power is formally attributed to the position of the leader. Transformation Leadership Theory Leadership expert James Burns introduced the transformation leadership theory. As per Bass, transformation leadership can be identified when leaders and followers cooperate in order to advance or change to a higher level of motivation. Therefore through the strength of their personality and vision, the leaders can inspire followers to change perceptions, expectation and motivation to work to attain a common goal. There are also four components of transformations leadership theory; 1. Intellectual stimulation arises when the leader motivates the followers to explore new ways of doing things and invent new opportunities to learn. Individual consideration thatà involves encouraging and offering support to individual followers 2. Inspirational motivation arises when the leaders have a clear perspective that they can articulate to followers. 3. Idealized influence occurs when the followers emulate and internalize the leaders ideas that they usually respect and trust as their role model. Situational Leadership Theory Situational leadership theory was developed by a professor known as Paul Hersey. The fundamental underpinning situational leadership theory is that leadership depends on each situation. Therefore, there is no single leadership style that can be considered the best. A good leader is the one who can adapt to his or her objectives and goals in accomplishing his leadership. In fact, the capacity to assume responsibility, education, experience and goal setting are the main factors that make a leader successful. Also, the maturity or ability of the followers is a critical factor as well which facilitate good leadership.

à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à Japan Slide Program Report Japan is a very small country, approximately 144,000 square miles (smaller than California), and is inhabited by a considerably large population of over 120 million people (half the United States!) This makes Japan the seventh most populous nation in the world. Japan is located at the far west side of the north pacific ocean, and consists of more than 4,000 islands! However, the Japanese people live on less than 10 percent of this land mass due to rough, mountainous, volcanic terrain, which make up a substantial 70 percent. One of the most famous and symbolic volcanoââ¬â¢s is Mt. Fuji. Among these many islands, only four are commonly known, including Hakkaido (northern-most, considered to be Japanââ¬â¢s ââ¬Å"frontierâ⬠), Shikoku (the smallest of the four), Kyushu (most southern), and Honshu ( the largest and most populated.) Japanââ¬â¢s capital city is Tokyo, which is also one of the worldââ¬â¢s largest cities. It consists of 12 million people! Tokyo became the imperial capital in 1868, with the downfall of the Tokugawa Shogunate and the end of the feudal period. And of course, it is home to the Imperial palace. The chrysanthemum flower is the symbol of the imperial family. Japan is an extremely modern civilization. After World War 2, much of Japan was destroyed, so in the rebuilding process of the nation, they were able to impose the very latest in technology, making them an ââ¬Å"economic superpowerâ⬠today. Their Gross National Product is so successful in fact, that it has nearly surpassed ours here in the United States! And is ranked second in the world. One of my favorite things in their very technologically-advanced society are the ââ¬Å"bullet trainsâ⬠, which are able to carry many people at speeds of up to 130 mph! They are safe, reliable, immaculately clean, and on time to the very second...How efficient! Another is their very modern system of parking in the thriving city of Sapporo, in which cars are lifted and rearranged in order to take full advantage of every last inch of precious space in crowded Japan. Despite this modernization, Japan is also very determined to maintain itââ¬â¢s highly distinctive (and lovely) tradition. In an attempt to keep the country culturally isolated from the surrounding world, like it is physically, the ancient Japanese invented their very own unique culture including beautiful (and very expensive) kimonoââ¬â¢s for the women, and sumo- wrestling for the men, just to name a few.
